Preventive Care

Dr. Fiorentino is here to help you achieve total wellness and feel good about your health.  His clinical interests include preventive medicine, nutrition, culinary medicine, and weight management, complementary/alternative/integrative medicine and medical education.   Having spent time caring for underserved patients, Dr Fiorentino knows first-hand how important preventive medicine can be for those who are at risk for certain health conditions. If you have a family history of serious medical problems, like heart disease, diabetes, cancer, or osteoporosis, you will benefit by having an annual wellness exam and health screening.

The goal of preventive care is to detect problems early, when they are easier to treat. Preventive care also focuses on keeping you well year-round, so that you spend less time and money at the doctor’s office or hospital. Our goal is to prevent disease as much as possible, and only use the most conservative treatments available. If you do get sick or hurt, we have same-day appointments available.

During a wellness exam, you and Dr. Fiorentino will discuss your health goals as well as any vaccines or immunizations you should consider. We can help you set realistic goals if you need to lower your cholesterol and/or blood pressure, manage diabetes, lose weight, eat healthier, exercise more, stop smoking or drinking, or anything else that will improve your health.

The most unique aspect of our care is that Dr. Fiorentino will sit down with you one-on-one and give you recommendations that are personalized to your age, medical history, and current health condition. As a patient-centered medical home, Dr. Fiorentino will coordinate every aspect of your care from annual physicals to specialist visits to hospital transition of care, should you be admitted.

In addition to a physical examination, we recommend routine health screenings to check for conditions that do not cause symptoms in the early stages, like cancer and heart disease. We order blood and urine sample to check the health of your organs and urinary tract. If there are any abnormalities, additional testing can be done to determine what type of treatment, if any, you should receive.
